During the second night of the Pink Tape Tour in Chicago on Monday, October 23, the renowned Philadelphia rapper, Lil Uzi Vert, shocked fans by announcing his retirement from music after their upcoming album, Luv Is Rage 3.
In a surprising revelation, the 28-year-old artist promised to embark on one final tour in support of the project before stepping away from the music industry to seek a "normal life." Speaking to the crowd, Lil Uzi Vert declared,
"Luv Is Rage 3 will be my last album. No, relax. It's okay [...] After Luv Is Rage 3, I guess I will go on another tour for Luv Is Rage 3. But after that, I wanna try to live a normal life."
The announcement came as a shock to fans who were audibly disappointed by the news. Lil Uzi Vert's retirement plan is set in motion after the release of their highly anticipated album, Luv Is Rage 3.
Although a release date for the album is yet to be confirmed, Lil Uzi Vert has been building anticipation with the release of the song "NFL," which is expected to serve as the lead single for the upcoming project.
Luv Is Rage 3 will serve as the sequel to Luv Is Rage 2, which achieved immense success upon its release in August 2017. The album, featuring the chart-topping hit "XO Tour Llif3," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified double platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
This forthcoming album will also mark Lil Uzi Vert's first full-length release since the arrival of Pink Tape during the past summer, a release that had been highly anticipated after years of delays.
