Las Vegas police have made a significant arrest in connection with the 1996 murder of the renowned rapper Tupac Shakur. The individual in question, Duane “Keffe D” Davis, aged 60, was apprehended while taking his morning stroll on Friday, September 29th, near his residence in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson. Davis now faces a formidable charge - one count of murder involving the use of a deadly weapon and an intent to promote, further, or assist a criminal gang. A Nevada grand jury, after meticulously reviewing evidence over several months, handed down this indictment. Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo identified Davis as the "on-ground, on-site commander" who issued the fateful order for Tupac Shakur's demise.
On July 17th, Las Vegas police executed a search warrant at Davis' residence in Henderson. During this operation, they confiscated various items associated with the unsolved murder. These seized materials included multiple computers, a cellphone, a hard drive, a copy of Vibe magazine featuring Shakur, as well as several .40-caliber bullets, among others.
In the 27 years that have elapsed since the tragic drive-by shooting, Davis has confessed on multiple occasions to being one of the passengers in the vehicle from which the fatal shots were fired, resulting in the death of the 25-year-old rapper. Davis has additionally implicated his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, as the alleged shooter who targeted Tupac in retaliation for a physical altercation between Shakur and Anderson on the same fateful night. Notably, Anderson met an unrelated demise two years later.
This arrest marks a significant development in the long-standing mystery surrounding the murder of Tupac Shakur and brings renewed attention to the case.
